After two seasons at the helm of the Illinois Springfield baseball program, Trevor Forde has stepped down as head coach. Assistant Coach Chris Rodriguez will lead the program for the time being.
"I loved my time at UIS and was surrounded by winners — both on and off the field," said Forde. "My growing family is leading me in a different direction, and I'm excited to take on this new challenge. I want to give a special shoutout to Jamarco Clark and Mike Hermann for everything they've done for me and my family — they are two incredible leaders. I'm excited for the future they're building!"
Since Forde's arrival in the summer of 2023, the Prairie Stars compiled a 62-39 record over two seasons and earned ten All-GLVC selections.
Rodriguez, who has served as assistant and pitching coach since 2023, will manage team operations moving forward. He brings a strong background in player development and has played a key role in the team's success over the past two seasons.
"I'm incredibly proud of what we accomplished this season—but even more proud of who these young men are," said Rodriguez. "Coaching them has been a true privilege, and being entrusted to continue in this role is an honor beyond words.
"The 27-6 record over the final three months of the season is a reflection of their resilience, competitiveness, and character. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity and fully committed to giving everything I have to these players and this program as we build on the winning tradition here at UIS."
Preparations are underway for the search for the next head baseball coach, and the department remains focused on supporting the team during this transition.
