Illinois Springfield's Ben Benoit has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Pitcher of the Week after a dominant showing in Thursday's win over Rockhurst.

Benoit was in control from start to finish, tossing a complete game and giving up just four hits and one earned run over seven innings. He struck out five and walked only two, leading the Prairie Stars to a 5-1 victory.

The win marked Benoit's first complete game of the season and improved his record to 3-4, playing a key role in UIS securing the series. He now holds a 5.36 ERA on the year.

The award is Benoit's first career Pitcher of the Week honor. The last UIS pitcher to earn GLVC Pitcher of the Week honors was Esteban Hernandez on February 10, 2025.

This weekend, Benoit and the Prairie Stars hit the road for a GLVC series against Southwest Baptist. UIS is ranked second in the GLVC standings and has won 19 of its last 22 games.
