WELCOME TO SCIWORKS @UIS
Where Science Connects with Community, Curiosity, and Purpose

About Sciworks@UIS
Sciworks@UIS is a collaborative initiative and shared laboratory facility housed in the College of Health, Science, and Technology at the University of Illinois Springfield. Anchored in the School of Integrated Science, Sustainability, and Public Health, Sciworks serves as a nexus for interdisciplinary research, experiential learning, and applied problem-solving. The name reflects both our mission and our method: science that works — in the classroom, in the field, and for the people of Illinois.
At its heart is a state-of-the-art analytical lab supporting molecular science, environmental chemistry, public health monitoring, and agricultural resilience. Faculty, students, and community partners use the space to investigate real-world problems, from water quality and soil contamination to emerging contaminants and sustainable technologies. Sciworks@UIS is both a physical hub and a growing network — a place where discovery, service, and education come together to tackle today’s challenges and prepare tomorrow’s scientists.
