Outdoor Adventures Equipment Rental
Planning your own outdoor getaway? Campus Recreation offers a wide variety of equipment available for rent to help you gear up for your next adventure.
Note: Equipment is not needed for any Campus Rec-led Outdoor Adventures trips. Gear is included in your trip registration.

Fees
Camping Package — $10 per day
Pick up at TRAC
Includes:
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad
- Two-person tent
Kayak Package — $5 per day
Pick up key, paddle, and PFD at TRAC
Kayaks are located at the UIS Field Station
Includes:
- Kayak
- Paddle
- PFD (Personal Flotation Device)
- Dry bag
Policies
Outdoor Adventures Trip Cancellation Policy
To receive a full refund, you must notify Campus Recreation at least seven (7) days before the scheduled trip date. Refunds will not be issued if:
- You miss the deadline to cancel, and
- Campus Recreation is unable to fill your spot with a replacement.
Equipment Rental Policies & Procedures
- Eligibility: Equipment rentals are available to all Campus Rec and UIS community members with a valid UIS i-card.
- Payment: All rentals must be paid in full at the time of checkout.
- Reservations:
- Required to ensure equipment availability.
- Accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Must be made at least three (3) business days before your trip.
- Inspection:
- It is the renter’s responsibility to inspect all equipment at the time of checkout.
- Any missing or damaged items must be reported immediately to Campus Rec staff so they can be documented.
- If the renter fails to inspect the equipment at pickup, they will be held responsible for any damage or missing items upon return.
- Waiver & Responsibility:
- Each renter must sign a Campus Recreation waiver at the time of rental.
- Renters are financially responsible for any damage to or loss of equipment.
- Returns:
- Return times will be set at the time of checkout.
- Equipment must be returned clean and on time.
- Campus Rec staff will inspect returned gear.
- Fines may be assessed for:
- Dirty equipment
- Damaged equipment
- Lost items
- Late Fees:
- A fee equal to one day’s rental rate per item will be charged for each day the equipment is late.
- Renters will be charged the full cost of repair or replacement for any damaged or lost items.
