What was your overall UIS experience like?

I was a full-time online student at UIS. It was a great experience. The teachers and staff made it a good experience being online full-time in addition to working full-time.
I was a writer for the UIS Observer during my last semester at UIS.

Do you have any fond memories of your time at UIS you'd like to share?

I received the Star Student Volunteer award my senior year at UIS.

Why did you choose UIS?

UIS is an affordable institution with a good online communications degree program.

How did your UIS education prepare you for your career?

My B.A. in Communication helped prepare me for my career as a public information officer. I write press releases, deal with media inquiries and public relations.

Do you have any cool hobbies/side projects you'd like to tell us about?

I enjoy going to concerts and listening to music. I am also the volunteer director of a live music, 5k, and vendor event called Rock and Run for Mental Health that raises funds for mental health and suicide prevention organizations.

What are some life lessons you'd like to share with current students?

It is never too late to complete your degree. Even if you work and have been out of high school for some time. Take it at your pace. Completing your degree is a rewarding experience.
