Starlit Stories

As part of Homecoming and National Literacy Month, Starlit Stories invites UIS students to celebrate Prairie Star pride through service and literacy.

On-campus and Commuter students will volunteer by reading to children at Cox Children’s Center, sharing stories that spark imagination and connection. Books are preselected from the children's favorites and can be picked up from Cox Children's Center the day before for review (optional). Children's ages will range between 3-5 years old.

Online students are encouraged to participate by submitting a recorded read-aloud or sharing a favorite childhood book and what it meant to them. These contributions will be featured as part of a virtual storytime collection, extending the reach of this event beyond campus and showing that wherever we are, we’re all connected—Written in the Stars. To participate please RSVP and contact volunteer@uis.edu for further instructions.
