Pre-Med is not an academic major. The term refers to the undergraduate coursework and related academic and community activities that students participate in, in order to enhance one's chances of admission into medical school.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education has approved our new Biochemistry major and our new Exercise Science major/Physical Therapy track! We will begin enrolling students in this major Fall 2016 (in just a couple months). Look for more details on the Chemistry Department web and Exercise Science web pages soon. These are new majors that are a good fit for PreMed, along with Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Lab Science and Psychology. However, students can major in any area and add the courses required for medical school to their curriculum.
