Lisa Bowen has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for November 2023. She is the classroom scheduling administrator for UIS Facilities and Services.

Her nominator said she is “a hard worker and great listener.” Her supervisor, Aaron Stewart, adds she “excels at every aspect of her position, but she exudes distinction in customer service and organization.”

Bowen's duties include scheduling all UIS academic classrooms for on-campus classes, along with coordinating classroom spaces for the UIC Nursing program. Bowen also provides cross-collaboration with outside organizations to coordinate space setup with the UIS move crew.

Bowen’s implementation of a self-scheduling meeting tool increased the performance and allowed for a personalized experience for requesting meeting rooms.

Her nominator applauds her seamless efforts in scheduling academic spaces for UIS students to succeed every semester in the classroom.

“Lisa is the pinnacle of an ideal employee,” Stewart said. “She leads with the same contagious positivity in every collaborative project she partakes in and guides students to the appropriate resources when interacting with them.”

Stewart describes her work performance as the “standard,” for customer service the University aims to achieve.

“She listens intently and provides thoughtful and empathetic advice and perspective,” Stewart said. “She is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life, has a kindness that transforms negative energy, and is dependable beyond what words can describe.”
