The Prairie Stars tennis teams will face the Quincy Hawks in their opening matches of conference play on Saturday, March 30. It will be the first of eight conference matches during the spring 2024 regular season.
Women's Tennis
UIS women's tennis team is 4-3 overall including a win over DII opponent Purdue Northwest. The doubles pairing of Franca Bucco and Carmen Llopis Fabra lead the team at 4-3.
Franca Bucco has the best individual record at 6-1 after starting the season 4-0. Niamh Grogan, Piper Schrepferman, and Carmen Llopis Fabra each boast four wins.
The Quincy Hawks have seen a 5-6 start to this season, recently defeating Rhodes College 5-2 before taking a 5-2 loss to No. 41-ranked Tusculum. The doubles pairing of Mahi Panchal and Blanca Salas Cruz recently appeared at No. 50 in the ITA DII women's doubles national rankings.
Men's Tennis
Prairie Stars men's tennis is 5-3 ahead of GLVC play. UIS is on a four-win streak after defeating Lees-McRae, Milligan, King, and Prairie State in the month of March.
Ivan Esguerra and Lin En Tan have been a successful doubles pairing as they have started this season with a 6-1 record. Pablo Herrera and Kai Van-Roon are 5-2 together.
Matthew Lapsley has yet to see a loss in seven singles matches while Pablo Herrera and Rafa Rojas have six singles wins apiece.
Quincy men's tennis is 3-7 with wins coming against Purdue Northwest, Maryville, and Missouri Valley College.
