Amanda Roberts has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for February 2024. She is an interlibrary loan specialist at UIS Brookens Library.

Her supervisor, Robin Mize, said she is an exceptional employee and that she is always friendly with both colleagues and patrons.

“She maintains effective working relationships by consulting with others to get feedback on workflow, problems and procedures,” Mize said. “She has worked in committee, with librarians, and with others outside the library to provide service.”
Roberts’ nominator praised her for happily taking on extra duties when two co-workers retired.
“Throughout her years here, she’s had a positive attitude, has been so dependable, and has truly been a joy to work with,” her nominator said. “She never complained or grumbled about any of the new things. She was willing to do whatever was asked of her and good-naturedly to boot!”
Her nominators add that Roberts puts in a lot of effort to help patrons get what they need.

“The work she does for students, faculty and staff is behind the scenes, and probably most people on campus don’t know her,” her nominator said. “She will try so hard to find a book or an article for someone, even when it might be from an 1850s Russian newspaper that’s only held at one Russian library!”

Roberts is known for her cheerfulness and being a team player.

“Amanda is a very supportive colleague,” Mize said. “She is warm and friendly, always gets her work done in a timely manner yet always has a moment to assist if requested.”
