Camerata Music Scholarships

(Effective Fall 2024)

About the Award

Selected students could receive up to $8,000 a year! ($4,000 for the Fall, $4,000 for the Spring)

These scholarships are available to incoming, undergraduate students who participate in assigned music ensembles and lessons.

Students can receive this award for up to 4 years if they maintain an institutional GPA of 3.0 or higher, full-time enrollment, and active participation in all music requirements.

Other Information

  • Interested applicants must complete a UIS Camerata Scholarship Application Form, which includes a cover letter, resume and video audition. Please direct any questions about this to the Music Program via email at music@uis.edu or phone number at 217-206-6240.
  • Students are not able to stack any admission merit scholarship/discount award/ or full-tuition waiver with the Camerata. This includes CAP Honors, First-Year Scholarships, Transfer Merit Scholarship, Presidential Award Program, Child of Veterans Waiver, Illinois National Guard Waiver, Illinois Veterans Waiver, the Employee Tuition Waiver, and other similar awards.
    • If a student decides to leave the music program but remains a student of UIS, they can revert to any original admission scholarship that was offered.
  • Camerata Scholarships will be considered as part of the Prairie Promise (for eligible students).
  • UIS Pre-Nursing students are not eligible.

Memorial Health Pre-Nursing Scholarship

About the Award

Selected students could receive up to $10,000 a year! ($5,000 for the Fall, $5,000 for the Spring)

These scholarships are available to freshmen and sophomore students in the Pre-Nursing Pathway who intend to enroll in the UIC College of Nursing program to earn their BSN and intend to live and work as a nurse in the Central Illinois area.

Students can receive this award for their freshmen and sophomore year if they maintain an institutional GPA of 3.0 or higher, full-time enrollment, and maintain appropriate progress in all pre-nursing coursework.

Other Information

  • Interested applicants must go through the Pre-Nursing Admission process to be considered for this scholarship.
  • Students should complete a Thank You letter to the Memorial Health System within 10 business days of receiving the award notice if they plan to accept the scholarship.
  • Students in their junior and senior year are considered UIC students even though they are taking classes at the UIS campus. UIC may honor this scholarship for the student’s junior and senior year of the nursing program, contingent upon continued funding from Memorial Health.
  • Students are not able to stack any admission merit scholarship/discount award/ or full-tuition waiver with the Memorial Health Pre-Nursing Scholarship. Speech and Debate Scholarship

About the Award

The amount of the award is at the discretion of the director that selects new students for the Speech and Debate Team.

Membership is open to all undergraduate majors on campus. No prior experience is required. Students can receive this award for up to 4 years on the recommendation of the director.

Students who accept this award agree that they must participate in weekly practice sessions each semester, complete at least two competitions each semester, adequately prepare for all events and tournaments, and meet all requirements and expectations of the team.

  • The UIS Speech and Debate Team is committed to training the next generation of civic leaders, public speakers, and communicators who are passionate about effecting change in their communities. The team does this by competing in twelve public speaking events and two forms of debate at regional and national tournaments throughout the year.
  • New students beginning at UIS for the 2023-24 academic year and beyond may not have combined UIS scholarships that exceed tuition and mandatory fee charges.
