UIS Alumni Association lunchtime lecture takes a look at Route 66 September 17 , 2003 SPRINGFIELD A Taste of UIS, the lunchtime lecture series sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association at UIS, will begin its fall season with Searching for Route 66 on Wednesday, September 24, at Maldaners Upstairs, 222 S. Sixth St., Springfield. The program is open to the public; however, reservations are required and should be made by September 19.UIS alumnus Tom Teague, executive director of the Illinois Historical Society and an advocate for the preservation of Route 66, will discuss the infamous road in a presentation that will interest anyone who has ever traveled Route 66, or wanted to. Teague is a contributing writer to the Illinois Times, State Journal-Register, St. Louis Magazine, Chicago Reader, and other publications. Other programs in the series are Demystifying the Art of Acting with Eric Thibodeaux-Thompson, assistant professor of communication and director of UIS theater productions, on Tuesday, October 21; Toons at Noon with alumnus Chris Britt, award-winning editorial cartoonist at The State Journal-Register, on Wednesday, November 19; and UIS Abraham Lincoln Presidential Center for Governmental Studies with executive director Milan Dluhy on Wednesday, December 10.
