"Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me"  -- LIVE in Springfield

WHEN:  Thursday, October 27
WHERE: Sangamon Auditorium, UIS

WHO: Peter Sagal, Carl Kasell, and panelists Mo Rocca, Adam Felber, and Paula Poundstone.

TICKETS: $35 $28 $22 $18. Tickets available at the Sangamon Auditorium box office at 217/206-6160 or 800/207-6960 or online at www.sangamonauditorium.org.

The program’s first visit to Springfield is part of the observance of public radio station WUIS’ 30th anniversary celebration. Support for the performance is provided by Bunn Corporation, in conjunction with the Springfield Area Arts Council.

Now in its eighth year, “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” offers a modern twist on old-time radio quiz shows, mining NPR news stories for its questions. Award-winning playwright Peter Sagal is the host; legendary NPR newscaster Carl Kasell acts as official judge and scorekeeper. The two-hour live show will also feature panelists Mo Rocca, author and former correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"; Paula Poundstone, one of the country’s foremost topical humorists and stand-up comedians; and Adam Felber, a New York-based writer and performer; as well as a special guest as the “Not My Job” contestant.

The Springfield program will include local references and games familiar to regular listeners.  Callers to 888-WAIT-WAIT can join panelists in answering questions about current events, “filling in the blank,” sniffing out fake news items, deciphering limericks, and discussing weird events in the news.

Co-produced by NPR and Chicago Public Radio, “Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me!” is broadcast each week to nearly 1.7 million listeners on more than 315 NPR stations. The show airs on WUIS/WIPA Saturdays at 10 a.m. The October 27 show will be broadcast nationwide that weekend.

Other stops on Wait Wait’s national tour include San Francisco; Atlanta; Washington, DC; Houston; Salt Lake City; Miami; Charlotte; and Lebanon, New Hampshire.
