Media Advisory: Two presentations by Peter NeufeldNovember 27, 2006What Peter Neufeld, co-founder of the National Innocence Project, will be in Springfield for two presentations. When & Where Tuesday, November 28 At noon, Neufeld will speak at a luncheon for members of the bar at the Sangamo Club, 227 E. Adams. Interviews can be arranged before this presentation. At 7 p.m., he will speak on “The Crisis of Wrongful Conviction” in Brookens Auditorium, located on the lower level of Brookens Library at the University of Illinois at Springfield. The evening presentation is free and open to the public. Background Neufeld co-founded and co-directs The Innocence Project at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, which has served as a model for similar programs across the country. Neufeld has litigated and taught extensively in both the “hard” and behavioral forensic sciences, as well as in the areas of expert witnesses and cross examination. Since 1995 he has served on the New York State Commission on Forensic Science, which has responsibility for regulating all crime laboratories in the state.
