Taste of UIS luncheon to feature editorial cartoonist November 7, 2003 SPRINGFIELD - A Taste of UIS, the lunchtime lecture series sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association at UIS, will present "Toons at Noon" with State Journal-Register editorial cartoonist Chris Britt on Wednesday, November 19, at Maldaner's Upstairs, 222 S. Sixth St., Springfield. Britt's presentation will both entertain and challenge the audience to think. His award-winning cartoons have been published in Newsweek, Newsweek Japan, Time Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and USA Today. Britt is a recent graduate of UIS, and was named Outstanding Student in Visual Art in 2003. The program includes a hot buffet lunch that begins at 11:30 a.m. Britt's presentation will begin at 12:10 p.m. and, along with the accompanying question-and-answer session, will be over by 12:50 p.m. (Those who have the time are welcome to linger for more discussion.) The program is open to the public; however, reservations are required and should be made no later than Monday, November 17. Cost for the program is $18 per person, $13 for Alumni Association members and their guests.
