UIS, Fraternal Order of Police reach agreement on salary increase November 5, 2003 SPRINGFIELD - The University of Illinois at Springfield and the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #55 have reached a one-year agreement including a salary increase amounting to 2.75% for all bargaining unit members. The agreement became effective September 1, 2003. "Given the current economic climate in the state, we were able to close out the contract on satisfactory terms," said Doug Crawford, field representative for FOP. "We are pleased with the outcome of the negotiations," said UIS Chancellor Richard Ringeisen. "We value our employees and want to do all we can for them within the constraints of these difficult budgetary times." The agreement covers the six police officers and three police sergeants in the UIS Police Department, which serves the UIS campus on a 24-hour-a-day basis. The Department's mission is to protect and serve the UIS community and visitors, and provide a safe and secure environment in which academic endeavors may thrive. |
