University of Illinois at Springfield to offer MBA program in Peoria
SPRINGFIELD – The University of Illinois at Springfield’s College of Business and Management announces a new master’s in business administration program to be offered in Peoria, beginning this fall. The program is organized in modules and will meet weekends, allowing working individuals to complete degree requirements in approximately 21 months.
“This is a state-of-the-art program designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to be effective business leaders of tomorrow,” said Dr. John Palmer, associate professor of business administration and director of the MBA program. “We have had many requests to offer a program of this type in Peoria. I am happy that we are finally able to do so.”
A distinguishing feature of the accelerated degree format is its emphasis on approaching issues from a business process perspective. Consistent with this perspective, cross-functional course modules will address topics as they relate to the business environment, strategic planning, implementation of enterprise initiatives, and assessment of organizational outcomes. Some of those business themes include globalization, diversity, ethics, quality, innovation, and productivity.
The cohort-based program will allow students to complete all degree requirements as a group. This benefits students by offering a collaborative, student-centered learning environment with many team-based exercises, assignments, and projects. Courses will be taught by faculty with top credentials in their field and will focus on the identification of key strategic problems and opportunities from a highly applied perspective.
The program, offered in Peoria, has no prerequisite component. For more information, contact Jana Wise at the UIS Peoria Center (309) 694-5339, or the Department of Business Administration, (217) 206-6780, or email Palmer at Palmer.John@uis.edu.
