SPRINGFIELD – Three students majoring in
management at the University of Illinois at Springfield have received awards
for excellence.
Carol J. Eggers, of Manito, Illinois, is the recipient of the department’s Highest Academic Achievement Award. Eggers, who plans to pursue a master’s degree in communication at UIS, will receive a monetary award for her academic achievement.
Dorothy I. Godbey, also of
Manito, is the recipient of The Wall Street Journal Student Achievement
Award, presented annually to the student who best exemplifies managerial
competence both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Godbey is a
senior customer support representative for Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria and will
receive a year’s subscription to The Wall Street Journal.
Carolyn Doss Prather, of Springfield, received the James C. Worthy
Award for writing the best senior paper in the program. This honor, which
includes a monetary award, pays tribute to the late James C. Worthy, a charter
member of the management faculty. Each
year’s winner is selected by the faculty who teach the course “Leadership and
Strategy: The Capstone.” Prather is an
accountant for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Springfield.
