UIS Visual Arts Gallery to hold annual Silent Auction

SPRINGFIELD The Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Illinois at Springfield will hold its annual Silent Auction fundraiser Monday through Thursday, February 24-27. Donated artworks in a variety of media – as well as crafts, antiques, and art-related services such as caricatures and photography sessions – will be on display for public browsing each day.

During the auction the gallery will be open extended hours, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Thursday, final bids must be placed by 6:30 p.m. and a reception, set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the gallery, will conclude the event. The reception is also free and open to the public.

The silent auction is the gallery’s only fundraiser and all proceeds will be used to support exhibits, workshops, and other programming, including “Discrete Rage,” an exhibit of works by Sarah Kanouse and Sandra Ahten, which opens March 3.

The gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Contact gallery manager Sharon Black at (217) 206-6506 for more information.
