UIS offers Astronomy for Everyone August 4, 2003 SPRINGFIELD The University of Illinois at Springfield will offer ASP 101 Astronomy for Everyone, taught by Professor of Astronomy/Physics Charles Schweighauser, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays August 25 through December 1, in Public Affairs Center conference room F on the UIS campus. Designed for non-science majors, the course is offered for credit to UIS students and also as a non-credit class to others with a personal interest in or curiosity about astronomy. Families and groups are encouraged to attend. We study the universe because it is beautiful, said Schweighauser, longtime host of UIS popular Star Parties. This weekly class will help participants understand the ever-changing sky as well as how recent advances in the field of astronomy might affect our world. Cost is $75 for adults, or $40 for students aged 10 to 18. To register for college credit, call (217) 206-6174. Regular tuition and fees are assessed. Late fees and permission of the instructor are required for those who register after August 27.
