Deputy governor to speak at UIS honor society ceremony

SPRINGFIELD – Dr. Hazel Loucks, Illinois Deputy Governor for Education, will be the featured speaker at the second annual Kappa Delta Pi initiation and dinner, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the Public Affairs Center restaurant on campus at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education is dedicated to scholarship and excellence in education and promotes openness to differences in gender, race, ethnic background, handicapping conditions, age, and intellectual ideas. The Alpha Alpha Gamma Chapter was chartered at UIS in 2001.

The following students and alumni will be inducted during the ceremony: Judith Best, Laura Bounds, Lori Broaddus, John Carnahan, Patricia Christian, Anna Delich, Kay Green, Sarah Haycraft, Evyonne Hawkins, Mark Holloway, Sarah Kwedar, John Loscher, Marsha Miller, Amy Newkirk, Michael Nix, Mae Noll, Claudia Pitchford, Florence Rozmislowicz, Amanda Skinner, and George Sparrow.
