SPRINGFIELD – The unique modern dance company Diavolo will perform at the University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium on Friday, November 9, 2007, at 8 p.m.
Diavolo company members are dancers, gymnasts, actors, and athletes who redefine dance through dynamic movement and enlighten communities through trust, teamwork, and individual expression. The performers interact with oversized surrealistic structures that provide a backdrop for their dramatic leaps and twisting movements.
As modern society becomes more complex with new technologies and possibilities, Diavolo investigates the latent absurdities of contemporary human life and seeks to recontextualize those absurdities through the body. Expanding the boundaries of what is considered dance, Diavolo creates movement that offers a cinematic experience of powerful images and abstract narratives.
