UIS Visual Arts Gallery will display works by Roland Folse

A painting by Dr. Roland Folse is part of "Creative Expressions" at the UIS Visual Arts Gallery from March 27 to April 19.

SPRINGFIELD -- "Roland Folse: Creative Expressions" will be on display at the Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Illinois at Springfield from March 27 through April 19.

A closing reception on Friday, April 13, in the gallery is presented as part of Arts Night at UIS, an annual evening of arts-related events sponsored by the UIS Alumni Association. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.; Dr. Folse will speak about his work at 6 p.m. Both the reception and artist's talk are free and open to the public.

After 33 years as an academic surgeon, Dr. Folse is now devoting his energies to art in a variety of media and is expanding his skills in bonsai, ceramics, woodworking, and painting.

The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For further information, contact Lara Stremsterfer by phone at 206-6506 or by e-mail at visarts-ga@uis.edu.
