Our annual celebration and acknowledgement of Women’s history, leadership, and contributions to the world and the issues they still face.
It’s On Us is a national campaign founded in September 2014 as an initiative from the White House. The national campaign seeks to bring everyone to the table to recognize the role we all play to prevent sexual assault and other forms of relational violence on our campuses.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Taking place in April Sexual Assault Awareness Month is a time dedicated to supporting survivors and educating campus on how to recognize and prevent sexual violence. Take Back the Night takes place in mid-to-late April as part of the month.
UIS Police in partnership with the Women’s Center offer twice yearly RAD training in Women’s Self Defense. Priority is given to current UIS Students, Faculty, and Staff. Please see below for current sign-up information:
Our next RAD training will begin on 9/24/2019 and running through 10/15/2019. This is a four part training taking place on Tuesday nights, from 5:30 – 8:30pm. It is important that you are able to attend all four nights to gain all of the benefits of the training.

AAUW Work Smart Salary Negotiation Workshops
The Career Development Center, Women’s Center, and Diversity Center are proud to present AAUW’s Work Smart salary negotiation workshops on our campus. From the AAUW website:
“AAUW Work Smart is specifically designed to teach you how to negotiate salaries for a new job. In every two-hour workshop you’ll gain confidence in your negotiation style through facilitated discussion and role-play and learn
- How to identify and articulate your personal value
- How to develop an arsenal of persuasive responses and other strategies to use when negotiating
- How to conduct objective market research to benchmark a target salary and benefits
- About the pay gap, including its long-term consequences”
