We are proud to be one of three campuses of the world class University of Illinois.
The University of Illinois Springfield has been ranked among the top 15 public regional universities in the Midwest for each of the past ten years by U.S. News & World Report “America’s Best Colleges.”
We may be in the heart of the Midwest but our students embrace and prepare for a new world. Many students study abroad. Others develop a competency in a second language. All learn with students from other countries who add richness to the campus and contribute to a deeper understanding of what divides and unites global cultures.
Teaching and learning at UIS is all about collaboration. Students do research alongside faculty. The University partners with local business and government, and new student opportunities emerge. Professors team teach and courses reflect perspectives from multiple majors. There lines are blurred here because that’s how life is.
It’s not just about being the right sized campus. How you connect with your colleges comes down to the faces you see every day. The professors who know your name from day one. The classmates or roommates who never fail to make you laugh. The grill cook who greets you at breakfast ans asks “the usual?” As our graduates what they remember most about college and they start naming names.
We are proud to place a special emphasis on public affairs and global citizenship. How could we not, being located in the heart of Illinois state government? Our students prepare for leadership through a wide variety of related majors and extraordinary internships. Many choose service and non-profit careers, other excel in the private sector. All are contributing to a better world through ethical leadership and a commitment to making a difference.
There is no better way to know whether we’re a good fit for you. At out Preview Days, you’ll meet faculty, staff and current UIS students who will tell it like it is. Tour the campus, including student housing. Lunch is on us.
Individual visits are welcome too.
