About the Office of Web Services
The UIS Office of Web Services oversees the primary UIS website, including the campus homepage and the top-level pages of the website.
The primary purpose of the UIS website is to recruit prospective students and to provide information about our research and teaching to the community.
This office monitors compliance with the UIS Web Policy and coordinates all matters related to official department websites at UIS.
Web Services is responsible for the creation of official department and unit websites only. These websites have been approved by a Web Liaison, use the official UIS WordPress theme, and are developed in collaboration between the department/unit and Web Services. Web Services is not involved in the creation of websites for conferences, faculty projects, external units/organizations, and student organizations.
The Office of Web Services heads the Campus Web Team, which is composed of Web Liaisons who are responsible for the accuracy of content of the websites in each of the campus’ operating divisions.
We focus on three areas:
- Projects – including website development and the WordPress content management system
- Tools – including the Webtools Toolbox, social media, and more
- Websites – including best practices, technical standards, accessibility guidelines, and information for people at UIS who work on the web and with multimedia
