Need even more information?
The UIS Office of Advancement is leading the fundraising effort for the Student Union, which still continues . If, after reading the information below, you have additional questions, please feel free to contact Jeff Lorber, UIS Vice Chancellor for Development, by phone at 217-206-6058 or by email at email@example.com.
The 50,000-square-foot Student Union has a total cost of $21.75 million.
State appropriations could not be used for a Student Union because the building (an “auxiliary enterprise”) is not directly related to instruction, research, or service. Much of the cost of the building will be paid by student fees; additional funds have come from other sources.
To complete funding, UIS has had to raise private support of $8 million for the Student Union. The University of Illinois Foundation, the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization for the University of Illinois system, is assisting in this endeavor.
Support from alumni and friends has been outstanding but more than $1.5 million still needs to be raised.
