The Diversity Center fosters a supportive environment for students to live, learn and grow as members of the academic community and as individuals. The Diversity Center works to develop the understanding of differences through educational, cultural, and social activities. Student organizations can also request this space for events. The capacity of the Diversity Center is 50 people.
The SLB Gym is one of the most popular spaces for student organizations to host activities on campus. On any given day you may find a dodgeball game, basketball game, dance practice, volleyball game, trivia night, and other activities being held in this space.
LGBTQA Resource Center
The LGBTQA Resource Center provides encouragement and support to students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning. The LGBTQA Resource Center especially works to challenge intolerance and promote affirmation so that we can have an even more inclusive campus.
Stars Lounge strives to create a community at UIS by providing a carefree environment for student socialization on campus. Big screen TV’s, ping pong tables, foosball, video games, a food bar, and more can be found at this dynamic location. The Stars Lounge can be requested to be reserved by student organizations and departments and has a capacity of 60 people.
Student Organization Center
The Student Organization Center or SOC is a great place to hang out, play games, work on projects, etc. SOC has a number of useful tools such as a Cricut machine, button maker, poster printer, a plethora of arts and craft supplies, and more to help your events or projects succeed.
The Women’s Center offers information, support, advocacy, referrals, and programming on a variety of gender-related issues.
