Motion by Jeff Sudduth, second by Jamie Voyles. IV. Announcements: A. Welcome Linette Hughes, our newest member!! B. Semi-annual APAC/CSAC New Employee Meet N Greet Wednesday October 12, 11:30-1:30. V. New Business: A. Chancellor Meeting with Executive Council (See attached notes provided by Jo Barnard) B. CSAD/CARE – Award ceremony is Nov. 3. The nomination period will run from Oct. 3- 14. Due to budget constraints, the recipient will still receive $500 but there will not be a matching $500 for the winner to choose to allocate to a campus organization. C. Professional Development – Application period starts next week. $15,000 has been awarded by the Chancellor. D. FLSA Changes – Please see UIEAC notes provided by Jo Barnard VI. Old Business: A. Vacancy appointment (term through 2017) – Welcome Linette Hughes B. Box Accounts- Please notice all notes and official documents pertaining to CSAC and subcommittees will be located in various box folders. C. Staff Scholarship Report- 1. A recent meeting took place with Alice, Jamie, and CJ. The history of the scholarship was discussed along with past winners and amounts. 2. Current balance of scholarship: $67,294.44 as of Sept. 16. Each year, the interest earned is what is provided as the scholarship. 3. Ideas for fundraisers: i. Raffles ii. Higher-end donation items for smaller raffles, Ex. Weekend Bed and Breakfast get away for 2 iii. Discount days at restaurants/grocery stores where a percentage of sales goes towards scholarship courtesy of the retailer. iv. Athletic competition – Ex. Staff vs. UIS softball team v. Vino & Vinyl * APAC has expressed interest in helping with fundraising (Ashley Edge suggestion) ** Rules may need to be addressed to provide clarity on who is eligible to receive scholarship. VII. Chancellor’s Report: A. Homecoming week is Oct. 3-8. B. Healthcare Majors – Chancellor is looking for feedback from campus community regarding what kind of majors within the healthcare field should be provided at UIS. Committees will be forming soon. Volunteers are needed. C. Race relations task force w/ city of Springfield is already underway. D. Student Union construction is progressing well. They are hopeful to have the exterior closed up before winter. E. Shakespeare garden looks great. F. State Budget – Legislature returns to session Nov. 15. It is important to remember there is no budget for the state. We are operating on a small stop-gap budget. Pressure is still being applied to lawmakers by UofI officials. G. Political season – Duckworth/Kirk US Senate Debate will be hosted by UIS in Sangamon Auditorium on October 27 at 7 pm. There will be 700 tickets available to the public. It will be broadcast on TV and radio. H. Employee of the Month committee looking for nominations. Form is available online. I. Try to develop deeper conversations with students. The atmosphere can be tense for young adults and sometimes a “more mature” influence is needed to provide perspective on things. VIII. Human Resources Report : None IX. Treasurer’s Report: (Alice Seaton) – CSAC will receive $250 from administration for committee activities. X. Committee Reports: A. APAC – Brian Moore – A date has not yet been set for “Canvas and Cocktails” B. CARE/CSAD – See New Business. C. Campus Senate – Kurt Piskin – 1. Will establish a Bachelor’s of Arts in Middle education with options to teach High School. 2. Money is starting to flow in from the stop-gap funding from the legislation to various departments. President Killeen is asking for consideration of a salary program. 3. Semi-annual student satisfaction survey is available on Academic Affairs website. 4. The Senate will periodically review its size, scope, and shape. D. Campus Technology – Jeff Sudduth Met Sept. 12 to discuss LMS along with a possible migration from blackboard to canvas, however, doubtful. There will be a possible pilot program this spring. E. Discussed goals and direction for the committee. 2. Updated webpage, faculty requirements, diversity reading list, diversity related visitor’s guides for Springfield area, and awards for diversity related activities throughout out campus. J. Sustainability – CJ Castelletti – 1. Sustainability Week is October 31- November 4. 2. Keynote speaker is Carolyn Finney, author of “White Spaces, Black Faces.” She will speak Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6 pm. 3. Volunteers are needed for manning the “Pop-up Putt-Putt” display. K.
