MINUTES
Thursday, December 5, 2013

Present:  Jo Barnard, CJ Castelletti,  Ann Cole, Debbie Dove, Bobbie Fults, Toni Langdon, Sandra Longen, Keith McMath, Dawn Orlove, Kurt Piskin, Amber Pyle, Tracy Rakes, Denise Rothenbach, Patricia Young

Absent:  Darlene Harris-Kresse and Janice Marvel

Guests: 	Joy Thibadeau and Ed Wojcicki

Call to Order:  10:05 a.m.

Approve Agenda for this meeting:  Yes.  Motion by Debbie, second by CJ.  Motion carried.
Approve Minutes from last meeting:  Yes.  Motion by Kurt, second by Denise.  Motion carried.

Announcements:  	
1. There will be no CSAC meeting in January.

New Business:  
1. New pension bill discussed.  The major changes appear to be a change in the COLA calculation, increased retirement ages, and employees in Tier 1 will contribute less.  Employees are encouraged to look at the information posted on the SURS website.  Denise will be getting more information during the upcoming SUCSAC meeting.  The new pension bill is effective June 1st, not July 1st.

Chancellor’s Report – Ed Wojcicki 
1. The new UPI contract will allow for professional development funding
2. Smoking committee has completed the campus survey.  They will be holding meetings and forums.  Committee should conclude after the first of the year.
3. The decision as to whether UIS should change its mascot should be made by the end of the year.  
4. Student Union.  There will be a virtual tour presentation on December 10th in BRK Auditorium.

HR Report – Joy Thibadeau
1. The first New Employee Orientation was held.  19 new employees were invited, only 3 attended.  Feedback from those in attendance was good.  This orientation will not be required but it is strongly encouraged.
