MINUTES
Wednesday, June 5, 2012

Present:  Lori Atkinson, CJ Castelletti, Debbie Dove, Bobbie Fults, Darlene Harris-Kresse, Toni Langdon, Jamie McGill, Dawn Orlove, Tracy Rakes, Denise Rothenbach, and Jill Stoops

Absent:   Clay Bellot, Ann Cole, Sandra Longen, Janice Marvel, and Patricia Young

Call to Order:  10:05 a.m.

Approve Agenda for this meeting:  Yes.  Motion by Denise, second by Jill.  Motion carried.

Approve Minutes from last meeting:  Yes.  Motion by Jill, second by Darlene.  Motion carried.

Announcements:  

1. Welcome and introductions for new members
2. Due to the July 4th holiday, the next CSAC meeting will be held July 11th at 10:00 a.m.

New Business:  

1. Officer nominations
* Voting will take place at next meeting
* Nominees:  President -  Bobbie; Vice-President- Jill; Secretary - Dawn; Treasurer - Denise
* If you would like to nominate someone, send an email to Bobbie.  Nominations will be accepted until the next meeting.
2. Professional Development Fund
* CSAC would like the Chancellor’s Office to consider a civil service professional development fund.  AP & Faculty currently have one.
* Ed suggested that CSAC create the proposal and the Chancellor would seriously look at it.
* Bob said once a proposal is created, HR would need to meet with the union reps for approval due to the contract rules.
* Bobbie will contact Barbara Cass for more information/suggestions.  Barbara Cass is on the AP Professional Development Committee.
* CSAC members will discuss this and create a committee at the next meeting.  

Old Business:  

1. End of year purchase
* A 3-panel display with carrying case was purchase.  This will be used at various events throughout the year.

2. Wellness Initiative/TRAC
* No updates on the Wellness Initiative
* Bobbie will research other universities rec center membership prices for employees to find out whether they are discounted or supplemented
3. Deans Searches – No updates on who has been selected for the committees.  
4. Faculty/Staff Relations
* Dr. Pardie is planning some workshops with faculty
* It was suggested that CSAC have Brown Bag Workshops with topics of “Conflicts in the Workplace”.  CSAC will discuss this further at the next meeting; possibly form committee to plan and organize the Brown Bag Workshops.
* HR is planning to include something on this topic in the next newsletter
* There is no faculty Code of Conduct at UIS.  Dr. Pardie is checking with Urbana to see if there is a University-wide code.

Chancellor’s Report – Ed Wojcicki – No Report

HR Report – Bob Lael 

1. The FY 13 Holiday Schedule has been approved and will be sent via email in the next day or two.
2. Summarized a couple Bills that were passed (abuse reporting, re-hiring retirees, and paid search firms).  There were no solid details for health insurance.

Treasurer’s Report – Debbie Dove – No Report 

Committee Reports:

APAC – Toni Langdon 

1. Next meeting will be held next Thursday 

CARE – Ann Cole – No report

CSAD – Bobbie Fults 

1. The date for CSAD will be Wednesday, September 12, 2012
2. The committee will need to meet in June to start planning.  Bobbie will send emails out.

Campus Senate – Lori Atkinson – No Report

Campus Technology – Janice Marvel – Out – No Report

Human Capital Strategy – Toni Langdon and Janice Marvel

1. Met on May 15th in Urbana to discuss the handout that Wayne Stahl presented to CSAC, brainstormed ideas and recommendations

Professional Development Committee – Not yet established or approved by CSAC

SURS – Janice Marvel – Out – No Report			 

SUCSAC – Denise Rothenbach 

1. Next meeting will be held at Illinois State University the third week of July

UIEAC – Bobbie Fults (President), Janice Marvel (SURSMAC), Denise Rothenbach (SUSAC) 

1. Next meeting will be held the last week of June or first week of July
2. Denise has also been given the approval to sit as President
