Announcement sent out this morning from UIS Civil Service Advisory Council on the UIS Institutional Scholarship Application. New Business: 1. Guest Speaker-Lisa Whelpley spoke about the upcoming Faculty and Staff Campaign. The campaign is February 27th from 12:30-1:30. Handed out some informational packet. The staff scholarship does count towards this campaign. Payroll deductions can be as small as $2.50 per pay for CS and $5.00 per pay for AP. Janice, Denise, Darlene, Debbie and Patty volunteered to work the CSAC table. Would be a good idea to have a list of prior staff scholarship recipients. Have prizes at the table, like goldfish or gold coin wrapped chocolate. 2. Faculty Staff Campaign-No report at this time. 3. Police Department Reporting-An incident occurred with the police staff. No formal way to complain for civil service, other than to send information to the Chancellor’s office. Old Business: 1. Professional Development Fund – still under review by the cabinet. Executive board will meet with the Chancellor. 2. Silent Auction Update, Spring for Talent * A lot of donations have been received. * So far donations received (or promised) include: catered dinner, crochet/knitting items, photography, student art, miscellaneous food items, quilt, wine night, pot holders, and candy bouquet. * The auction is April 25th * A forum to discuss the response of the survey will be held on Friday, February 15th in Brookens Auditorium from 10:00-11:00. Civil Service staff are encouraged to attend to ask questions. CS staff my also submit anonymous questions to their CSAC rep or submit during the forum. Chancellor’s Report – Ed Wojcicki 1. The University will hire a consultant for supervisor training on Leadership Lived them. Will engage all staff around this theme. Will occur sometime in the spring. 2. Breaking ground later this year for the new public safety building. 3. Talk of the student union-need to get the issue off the ground, but will also need to raise more money. HR Report – Laura Alexander 1. HR is doing a salary study for the bargaining units. The group will consist of two HR members (Mark Owens and Mary Torricelli) and two union employees, to be named later. 2. Audit of the AP positions. The 39 Springfield positions have been through the analysis. Now they will be measured against the job description. How do we move forward? Laura and Mark will go through/evaluate each of the 39 positions. Treasurer’s Report – Denise Rothenbach – No report Committee Reports: APAC – Toni Langdon 1. APAC annual meeting will be February 12th 2. Human Capital Strategy meeting set for February 11th to review final edits CARE – Ann Cole – No report CSAD – Bobbie Fults – No report Campus Senate – Lori Atkinson 1. Discussed sabbaticals; 12 applied, 8 were granted 2. Discussed the proposal of a liberty studies minor Campus Technology – Janice Marvel 1. I-Pads are available to check out for classes 2. Four hundred and ninety-seven students are enrolled in the Emancipation Proclamation on-line class SURS – Janice Marvel – No Report SUCSAC – Denise Rothenbach 1. Discussions from the Merit Board meeting/Exemption Authority. What is the authority-who should decide on whether the position is AP or CS? What type of software program is being used to evaluate the position? What is the methodology in the decision? UIEAC – Bobbie Fults (President), Janice Marvel (SURSMAC), Denise Rothenbach (SUSAC) 1. Meeting next week Parking Appeals and Advisory Board – Darlene Harris-Kresse & Debbie Dove – Few meetings ROAD – Lori Atkinson & Patty Young 1. Have had a couple of meetings. Discussion of the disability office being at the other end of campus. Is it a privacy issue? What about the possibility of moving it into the student union? 2. Safe Zone-training this week and next week. Sustainability – Dawn Orlove - No report Healthy Initiatives – Bobbie Fults, Jamie McGill & Jill Stoops 1. Wellness committee will meet again. Decide what questions to ask the campus. What programs would help? 2. Health Fair will go on. Ann Godman with the Springfield Health Clinic will be helping with the fair. The fair is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd from 10:00-2:00. Faculty are encouraged to give students extra credit for attending. Student Discipline – Lori Atkinson & Tracy Rakes – No Report Webmaster – Toni Langdon 1. Web Services will be migrating UIS Websites to a Content Management System (CMS), which will take the place of Contribute. 2. CSAS was on the Web Accessibility Honor Roll, along with about 40 other units/departments on campus. Silent Auction – Darlene Harris-Kresse & Debbie Dove – No Report Other items: 1. March 6th-next meeting. Will discuss elections. How do we put out the information? And what are the requirements? 2. Will the April meeting be changed, because of a conflict with the Health Fair? 3.
