Devin Hunter
Assistant Professor of History

Devin joined the UIS History Department in 2015 and teaches courses in public history, twentieth-century United States history, and the history of popular culture. He is a member of the Illinois State Historical Society Board of Directors and Executive Committee and the Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Committee, among other affiliations. Devin earned his doctorate in US and Public History from Loyola University Chicago, after several years’ experience at the National Archives in Washington, DC, and Chicago and the Pritzker Military Library and Museum in Chicago.

Kate Brethorst

Katie is a senior History major and an experienced local public historian. The Carlyle, Illinois, native has worked as a tour guide at the Dana-Thomas House and with Fever River Research at the 1908 Springfield Race Riot archaeological site. She hopes to one day become a museum curator and create exhibits and displays for historic sites and museums.
