Summer Move-In

The Department of Residence Life strives to provide a seamless move-in experience for students and their families during Move-In. Summer Housing is consolidated into one residential area regardless of class or student affiliation, to allow for maintenance and thorough cleaning of our residential areas. Summer Housing rotates every year to allow for regular maintenance in all offered units. Family Housing will remain in Sunflower and Clover Courts, regardless of the Summer Housing designated residential area.

Summer Housing location (non-family) for 2019 is Larkspur Court! Please take a minute to view our Virtual Tours for better idea of what your space may look like this summer.

Please be sure to review the following information to prepare for your arrival on-campus:

When Should I Arrive?

  • Summer Move-In Date is May 31, 2019. This Move-In date is for all new contracted residents.
    • If your internship begins on/before May 31, 2019, you may request an earlier Move-In date. You must provide supporting documentation to the Residence Life Central Office (reslife@uis.edu).  They will then contact you with an approved Early Arrival date and time.
  • UIS students who extended their contract from the Spring 2019 semester to the Summer 2019 semester do not have to check-out by May 12, 2019. They will take part in a Summer Transition to their Summer Assignment, May 22, 2019.
    • An email with Summer Transition instructions, dates and times will be forwarded by the Summer Resident Director.
    • All students are required to adhere to 24 hour transition period. Please contact the Summer Resident Director with any questions, or special requests regarding Summer Transition.

When You Arrive

  • Checking In
    • All students checking into their units will report to the Housing Commons (HCOM – #20 on the campus map) to check-in and receive their keys. All students must present their i-Card and/or photo identification when checking in. Students will then be directed to their Summer Assignment where they will be able to begin unloading.
      • Moving Carts will be provided during check-in, however, there will be not volunteers to help students unload their vehicles. There are limited Moving Carts available and are distributed on a first come first serve basis.
    • Room Condition Inventories & Keys – At check-in, students will receive a Room Inventory and Keys for their spaces.
      • The Room Condition Inventory is a standardized form that denotes the current state of the room upon inspection by the Resident Assistant.  All students are highly encouraged to review the information and inform their Resident Director of any omissions or alterations within 48 hours of check-in.  After the 48 hour period residents may be held responsible for any discrepancies during check-out. When checking in, students will sign and receive a copy of their Room Inventory.
      • In the Apartments and Townhouses, residents will receive a front door key, bedroom key and mailbox key.
      • Residents are responsible for their keys at all times, and may be asked to produce these keys by Residence Life Staff at any time.
  • People you will meet
