Fall Move-In: Upperclass, Transfer, & Graduate Student Move-In Schedule
Returning Student Move In
ALL students* are expected to pre-register for a Move In timeslot to allow for a move-in experience that reduces congestion and supports physical distancing for students and their move-in helpers. Space during each timeslot will be limited and offered on a first-come-first-served basis. All students must be in compliance with the UIS COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Policy. Students who are not in compliance will not be permitted to move into their space.
You will be able to sign up online for your preferred timeslot starting on Aug. 2. Please watch your email for the sign-up link! You will receive a confirmation email after making your selection. If you need to later adjust your check-in timeslot, please contact the Office of Residence Life at (217) 206-6190 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
East Campus Apartments and West Campus Townhouses
- Move-In: Wednesday, Aug. 18, Thursday, Aug. 19 & Friday, Aug. 20
- Check-In Timeslots offered between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Getting to Campus for Returning Student Move-In Day:
All students will be asked to report to their community during their designated timeslot. Students residing in East Campus Apartments or West Campus Townhouses should report to Homer Butler Housing Commons/Residence Life Office and students residing in a residence hall should report to their front desk area.
Students living in one of our Apartments or Townhouses can proceed directly to the long-term residential parking lot nearest their building and unload from there. There is no need for them to wait in an additional line after completing the check in process.
During the Check-In process you will:
- Confirm you are in compliance with the UIS COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Policy. Students who are not in compliance will not be permitted to move into their space.
- Receive your room keys and instructions on how to submit your Room Inventory.
- East Apartments and West Townhouses: (217) 206-6190
- Lincoln Residence Hall (LRH): (217) 206-6200
- Founders Residence Hall (FRH): (217) 206-8474
Status of Opening Work Orders and Maintenance
When you arrive, you will be asked to visually inspect your space for maintenance concerns and fill out an inventory via the online Housing Portal. If repairs are needed you should submit a work order. Work orders are addressed on the basis of urgency with safety, security, and basic life functions prioritized first. We thank you for your patience. If you should have any questions regarding the status of your work order, please contact your Resident Director for follow-up.
Request Permission to Arrive Early – Fall 2021:
Residents who wish to arrive to campus prior to their official Move In Day will need to submit the Early Arrival Request Form. The deadline to submit an early arrival request is July 31. Late submissions will be charged a higher nightly rate.
There are early arrival charges of $35 per night for students to move in early to their residence hall or apartment.*
*Residents who are required to return to campus early for the purposes of CDC Recommended Quarantining (such as recent international travel) will not be charged the Early Arrival Fee but are still required to submit the Early Arrival Request Form.
Additional questions regarding this process can contact Residence Life at 217-206-6190 or email at email@example.com. Thank you.
