Dr. Ronda Mitchell
Welcome to the Project Midstate Student Support (MSS) for Teaching!
MSS at the University of Illinois at Springfield seeks to support first generation and/or racial diversity teacher candidates. The Department of Teacher Education recommends candidates to the Illinois State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board for a Professional Educator License upon completion of requirements. Candidates apply to teach in a partnering school district for a minimum of two years if said employment is available or offered.
Besides being the Director of MSS, I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education. I have taught in higher education for 16 years and in the public schools for eight. My undergraduate degree is from Bradley University and both my master’s and doctorate’s degrees are from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. This is my fifth year at UIS.
We have a fabulous group of students, faculty, and staff at UIS, and I have enjoyed every minute of my time here. If you have any questions, please contact me at (217) 206-7008 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
