New Student Orientation Student Worker Positions
The Office of New Student Orientation employs a number of students to assist with its orientation and family programming. These positions are considered para-professional – working alongside professional staff and having a significant level of knowledge, skills, and responsibilities that characterize their unique duties with new students and families.

O-Team Recruitment 2020
The O-Team Captains are experienced orientation leaders who have served on the Orientation Team for at least one year. The O-Team Captain position allows students the unique opportunity to practice their team and leadership skills with current orientation leaders while welcoming new students and family members to UIS.

Orientation Leaders (OLs).
New Orientation Leaders are undergraduates. First time members to the O-Team are selected because of their enthusiasm for, knowledge of, and involvement in the UIS Community. OLs assist in orienting new students and their parents to campus. OLs will facilitate small group discussions with students and answer questions that help to teach new students and families about the University of Illinois Springfield resources, traditions, opportunities, and student expectations.

2nd and 3rd Year Orientation Leaders
Students wishing to return to the Orientation Team for a second or third year should review the OL Overview and Employment Calendar, complete the OL Application 2020, answer the questions on the application (including the additional questions for returning staff members), apply on Career Connect and obtain two recommendations by the deadlines. You will sign up for an interview between February 3 and February 26.

Spanish Interpreter/Orientation Leaders.
NSOPR is looking for individuals who can assist Spanish-speaking family members of new students with Spanish/English interpretation by interpreting the speakers presentations, translating any questions the parents/family members have, and answering questions about the orientation program for parents/family members. When students are not needed for interpreting, they will be assisting with orientation activities and new students as orientation leaders.

Spanish Language Fluency Verification: Please make an appointment with Spanish instructor Arnoldo Robles-Reyes [firstname.lastname@example.org] so he can verify your Spanish Language Fluency. The verification must be done by Friday, February 21 so he can send me an email by 5 p.m. to be included in your application folder.
