A pair of Prairie Stars have earned D2CCA All-Midwest Region honors, as selected by the region's sports information directors. Outfielder Brant Vanaman was voted First Team D2CCA All-Midwest Region while designated hitter Mark Kattula earned a Second Team nod.

Vanaman is one of three outfielders on the First Team, listed alongside WIlliam Jewell's Evan Jilbert and Braedon Stokes of Missouri-St. Louis. Vanaman was recently selected to the NCBWA's Second Team All-Region. Vanaman played and started in 43 games this spring, totaling 64 hits, 49 RBIs, 47 runs, 10 home runs, and a team-leading 4 triples. Vanaman hit for the first ever cycle in UIS history in the team's home opener, going 4-for-5 with 7 RBIs.

Vanaman has climbed into several career categories in the UIS Baseball Record Book. He ranks fourth all-time in runs scored, fifth in total hits, and tenth in batting average. His .395 batting average in 2024 is the seventh-best single-season average by a Prairie Star in program history while his on base percentage and slugging percentage are also top-10 single-season marks.

Vanaman will be advanced to the D2CCA's national ballot for All-America consideration.

Mark Kattula
.397 AVG / .454 OBP / .620 SLG

Kattula, a designated hitter from Shelby Township, Mich. picked up his second All-Region honors after his first season as a Prairie Star. He has been tabbed as a second-teamer by the NCBWA and D2CCA. Kattula played in 48 games, totaling 73 hits, 46 RBIs, 41 runs scored, 18 doubles, and 7 home runs. He led the Prairie Stars in batting average, hits, and doubles.

All 16 first-team All-Region selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America Consideration. The All-America teams are scheduled to be released on Thursday, May 30. The complete D2CCA All-Midwest Region teams can be found on the following page.
