The student-athletes at the University of Illinois Springfield achieved a 3.43 term GPA in the spring 2023 semester. A record number 54 Prairie Stars recorded a perfect 4.0 grade-point average and 133 of 217 athletes (61.3%) were at 3.5 or higher.
Eight of thirteen teams averaged above 3.5; women's soccer (3.63), women's basketball (3.50), softball (3.74), men's soccer (3.64), women's tennis (3.84), men's tennis (3.81), women's golf (3.69), and men's golf (3.53). Women's golf was the team with the highest term average of 3.84 while men's tennis was the leading men's program with a term GPA of 3.81. All UIS teams averaged above 3.0 this spring.
Two UIS senior student-athletes were recognized at the annual Night of Stars for having the highest cumulative GPAs of their graduating class. Emma Little of women's soccer was named the Female Senior Scholar Athlete and Hagen Sanchez of men's golf was the Male Senior Scholar Athlete.
UIS student-athletes have now averaged above 3.30 for twelve consecutive semesters. Prairie Stars await the Great Lakes Valley Conference Academic Awards that will be announced over the summer.
The fall 2023 semester will begin on Friday, August 25.
