The University of Illinois Springfield Baseball team is ranked second in the Midwest Region in the first NCAA DII Baseball Regional Rankings. GLVC baseball teams took the top three ranked spots, and are four of the nine total teams in the ranking.
The Prairie Stars are 31-11 and 26-8 in-region. The Quincy Hawks are atop the Midwest Region with a 36-9 overall, 29-6 in-region record. UIS and Quincy split a four-game series when they met in Springfield earlier this season. GLVC opponent Maryville is in the No. 3 spot, and UIndy took the No. 7 spot to round out GLVC member appearances in the ranking.

UIS has one more regular season series lined up. The Prairie Stars are in St. Louis, Mo. this weekend to face the UMSL Tritons at noon on both Saturday and Sunday. The Tritons are 21-25 and 14-14 in GLVC play. They recently picked up one win in their series with Quincy before falling in all four games of last weekend's series against Missouri S&T.
UIS has clinched a bid for the GLVC Tournament that will take place in Marion, Ill. next weekend. The winner of the GLVC, GLIAC, and GMAC Conference Tournaments will receive automatic bids to Midwest Regionals.
