Memories of UIS

“I have many, but my most memorable moment at UIS would be becoming the first member of the very first fraternity on campus to be initiated (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.) because as a member of the Greek Life Petitioning Group I lobbied and worked with the university for several years to allow Greek life to become a component of campus life.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?

“UIS provided me the framework to understanding politics and the practical application of our studies. Also, learning from practitioners provided a unique insight that prepared me for the dynamics of Illinois’ government. Being a student leader at UIS gave me the skills to operate in a professional setting, lead others towards achieving goals and strategically completing tasks from beginning to end.”

Interesting Fact

“Among the many interesting things that I enjoy, my favorite is completing difficult puzzles and building toy models with my son, Robbie.”
