The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team defeated GLVC opponent Missouri S&T at home on Sunday in its highest scoring game of the season. Three Prairie Stars combined for four goals as UIS swept its first weekend of GLVC play.
Anton Aduwa-Emovon wasted no time, scoring 15 seconds into the game with the help of second year Prairie Star Max Tweddle. It was the first of 17 Prairie Stars shots.
The Miners put up seven shots, their singular on-target attempt by Connor Hui was saved by Andrea Scapolo.
The Prairie Stars would go on to score three goals in under three minutes in the second half. Joe Conway scored his second goal of the weekend off an assist from defender Brian Riordan in the 70th minute. Or Levinstein fed off of that momentum, scoring twice unassisted.
The Prairie Stars are one of three GLVC teams that went 2-0 this weekend. UIS now has three wins, including two over nationally ranked opponents.
UIS will continue GLVC play on the road, meeting Upper Iowa on Friday and Truman State on Sunday.
