The University of Illinois Springfield cross country program competed at Missouri Southern State University's Southern Stampede on Friday. The races were hosted on the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course, the site for the upcoming NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship.
Women's cross country finished 11th of 19 teams. Three GLVC opponents also competed at the meet; Southwest Baptist (6th), Drury (9th), and Maryville (15th).
Madelyn Miller was once again the top runner for UIS, finishing 40th in 18 minutes and 57 seconds. Miller was seventh out of GLVC runners at the meet. Breanna Chandler and Jade Aubrey were close behind, finishing 47th and 50th respectively.
Cort Ross and Noah McIntyre cracked the top-ten in the men's 8,000 meter race, finishing 9th and 10th, respectively. Next up for the Prairie Stars was Briar Nevills in 41st place. No. 14 ranked men's cross country finished sixth behind No. 13 Mississippi College, No. 20 Missouri Southern, and meet champion No. 26 East Central (Okla.).
