Internships and Work Study Positions


Work Study Positions

Each year, 1-2 work study positions are available through UIS Music. Work study students undertake a variety of tasks to help facilitate the program. These include:

  • Monitor Music Technology Lab
  • Maintain the UIS Music Library
  • Assist with music ensemble preparations, set-up and tear down
  • Serve as a Stage hand during solo and ensemble performances
  • Assist faculty and staff as needed

This is a paid position. Openings are advertised when available on the UIS Career Connect website.


Internships

National Public Radio Classics Internship

NPR Illinois maintains studios on the UIS campus. Each year, the station welcomes applications for 1-3 internship positions centered on the streaming classical station NPR Classics. The internship consists of a variety of tasks including:

  • Maintaining NPR Classics social media
  • Maintaining the NPR Illinois music library
  • Assisting with programming and hosting the NPR Classics HD Station

A background in music and/or communication is preferred but not mandatory.

National Public Radio The X Internship

NPR Illinois maintains studios on the UIS campus. Each year, the station welcomes applications for 1-3 internship positions centered on the streaming adult alternative X station. The internship consists of a variety of tasks including:

  • Maintaining NPR X social media
  • Assisting with programming and hosting the NPR X station

A background in music and/or communication is preferred but not mandatory.

Illinois Symphony Orchestra Marketing Internship

The Illinois Symphony Orchestra invites applicants for one internship position each academic year. The internship includes a variety of tasks including:

  • Maintaining and updating ISO social media
  • Assisting the Marketing and Communications Manager

A background in music and/or communication is preferred but not mandatory.
