More About Mr. Zils:
Guilherme Ehrat Zils is an enthusiastic orchestral and soloist double bass player that strives to perform a diverse repertoire for his audience. A natural citizen from Brazil, G.Zils was immersed from an early age in a rich, musical culture.
He first moved to the USA in 2008, to pursue his Bachelors in Double Bass Performance at the University of Southern Mississippi. Next he acquired his Master’s in Double Bass performance at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. G.Zils primary teachers in the US were Dr. Marcos Machado and Prof. Michael Cameron.
From 2009 to 2012, Mr. Zils performed five times at the Britten-Pears Music Festival, in addition to its European Tour in 2012, performing at Concertgebouw and special events, such as BBC Proms 2012.
Currently, Guilherme Ehrat Zils performs with a variety of local orchestras such as Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia da Camara, Bach – Baroque Artist of Champaign, and Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, including a Tango ensemble. In addition, Mr. Zils has great experience with New Music, performing with Illinois Modern Ensemble and Suono Mobile for over 5 years.
Guilherme Ehrat Zils is currently pursuing his DMA at UIUC in addition to teaching at UIS and Millikin University.
