More about Mr. Raymond:
Christopher Raymond, a native of Bourbonnais, IL, is a Bassoon instructor at Illinois Summer Youth Music, and a doctoral candidate at UIUC, where he is the teaching assistant in the bassoon studio.
An active orchestral musician, he holds the positions of Second Bassoon with Sinfonia de Camera, and Principal Bassoon with the Urbana Pops Orchestra. In addition, he performs regularly with The Illinois Symphony, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, Millikin-Decatur Symphony, Danville Symphony, Kankakee Valley Symphony, and the Sugar Creek Opera Company. He has traveled around the world performing with ensembles such as the South Shore Orchestra in their 2014 tour of China.
He has performed concerti with the Millikin-Decatur Symphony, Millikin’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and the Kankakee Valley Symphony. Winner of Millikin University’s prestigious Hollis Prize in 2015, he performed his prize-winning recital in the Chicago area.
His primary teachers are Timothy McGovern, Stephen Duncan, Elizabeth Shoemaker, Mark Avery, and Neal McMullian.
