Georgia Hornbacker attended Indiana University where she received her B.M. and M.M. degrees in Violin Performance. Since 1986 she has been Violin Professor at Millikin University, teaching string methods, string pedagogy, theory fundamentals, freshman theory, music appreciation, and serving as Concertmaster of the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Georgia is Associate Concertmaster of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra. She is a regular reviewer of music, books, and CD’s for American String Teacher magazine and a contributing author to The String Teacher’s Cookbook and Teaching Music Through Performance in Orchestra, Vol. 3. All are publications of the American String Teachers Association. Georgia is active in Illinois ASTA and in 2001 was named Outstanding Studio Teacher. She maintains a private studio in the Springfield, IL area and teaches beginning through advanced students.
