Area of Specialization: Strategic Management
Carolee Rigsbee is an assistant professor of management who has extensive prior business and industry leadership experience in quality assurance and project/program management in software-based systems. Carolee specializes in strategic management and aims to help design innovative organization governance and value chain structures and processes that strengthen stakeholder voice and reduce obstacles to social goal achievement. Her research is currently focused on understanding the strategic benefits that could be derived from vertically integrated value chains (meta-organizations) enabled by blockchain technology and shared governance structures to deliver goods and services in support of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
Carolee is a member of the Executive Committee for the UI System Center for Urban Resilience and Environmental Sustainability (CURES). Carolee was involved in planning the NSF sponsored “CURES Connection” workshop, held August 7th and 8th, 2019 at the Discovery Partners Institute, at which a broad network of stakeholders focused on addressing energy, water, and climate related issues faced by cities of different sizes in Illinois and the Midwest and set the groundwork for advancing action in these areas.
Carolee is also on the organizing committee for the international conference on Sustainability, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship (SEE Conference website). The conference highlights cutting edge research on social impact investment mechanisms, social entrepreneurship, and mission-based enterprises (e.g. benefit corporations, B-Corp certified firms) and other topics related to social and environmental progress.
Please feel free to contact Carolee for more information on the above topics or if you are interested in collaborating on research, education, or other projects in the area of socially and environmentally responsible business management.
