The goal of the UIS Medical Laboratory Science Club is to broaden the experiences of students interested in MLS, increasing the scientific understanding and development of each student.
The MLS Club is an active, on-campus organization. We sponsor one or more Blood Drives for the Central Illinois Community Blood Center and a Poinsettia/Christmas Cactus Sale every year. We also participate in student activities on campus, such as the Trick or Treat for canned goods to benefit the food bank.
Proceeds from the Poinsettia Sale go toward a club trip to the Annual State Professional Meeting of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science-Illinois. This spring it will be in Peoria. The meeting includes the Student Bowl competition. We took second place in 2018 and first place in 2017!
Look for our bake sales. Laboratorians are good cooks!
The MLS Club is open to all UIS students, both MLS and non-MLS majors. Students interested in joining MLS Club may do so by attending any of the meetings or contacting us for more information (Jessica Sullens, Emily Zimmerman, or the advisor, Prof. A. Adams).
