Adella Nguyen and the SAM Competition

Adella with prize plaque“To me, joining the UIS SAM case competition had several benefits such as professional learning, developing social skills, and cultivating what I have learned in school. As an MBA student, I always look for practical opportunities to apply my business knowledge learned from classes and the case competition offered even more than I expected. It was real practice for my business background, social skills in terms of networking and communicating, presentation skills, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Most importantly, I appreciate how this activity has helped orient my career path. I learned my strengths and weaknesses which directed my focus for improvement.  This led to a better vision of my future job, learning necessary skills and knowledge for the business industry.  I never thought that I would be interested in the project management field until I joined the case competition.

The most wonderful thing is to make new friends, learn from their experiences, discuss your passion with people interested in the same industry, and develop yourself.  I really enjoyed the competition where I could build such great friendships with my team mates.”
